Exactly 103 years after the "Battle of Pilckem Ridge", this year no commemorations, for the known reasons. Very early this morning, I went out with companion Nick Mol (Photography To Remember WWOne) and we made this "virtual morning walk on "Pilckem Ridge" & surroundings in 360°”. July 31, 1917 was for the British "A day of optimism, but what a false dawn it proved to be ..." After a relatively succesfull progress on this first day, the British attack stalled, before finally stranding in mud and misery near Passendale in mid-November ...
